  1.       Welcome to the Land of SPUR!
  2.  
  3. Here your abilities will be  challenged to   their  utmost.    You  are  pitted
  4. against  the  ALMIGHTY  and  OMNIPOTENT SPUR and all the demons and monsters of
  5. his  land.   Many creatures  guard  his dungeon  of  treasures  and  await  the
  6. eager adventurer.
  7.  
  8. To  succeed in this adventure you  must seek  out the Almighty SPUR and  defeat
  9. him.   You  must  then escape from  the dungeon  by climbing UP the  ladder  in
  10. the  first  level.   You  may  also  be required  to find a MAGIC TREASURE  and
  11. acquire  a degree of wealth before  you are  allowed  to  escape!   New  perils
  12. and  new  treasures await you  on  each level.
  13.  
  14. You  will not be supplied with  a  map.  That information can only be  acquired
  15. by exploring the many levels within the land.   You will be allowed to purchase
  16. weapons,  shields,  armor,  spells  and rations to aid you in your quest.  Your
  17. gold will be limited at the start, but, you  can  quickly obtain  more  through
  18. your ventures.

  20. SPUR  will evaluate your abilities when you  enter  the  land.   Take  care  to
  21. always know what your STATUS levels are and  be watchful of certain objects  in
  22. the dungeon - they may be CURSED!  Your attributes will determine your fighting
  23. and reasoning ability at all times.
  24.  
  25. Traps   and  treasures  can  be   found everywhere.    Monsters  may  be  found
  26. roaming  throughout the LAND  and  some can   only   be  killed  with   special
  27. weapons.   Books  in the LAND can  hold valuable clues to the game.
